SUMMARY: Isaac Buxton popularly known as FimFim was born on the 10th of May. He got into the limelight and got recognition in 2014. He is an artist himself as he started doing music before going into Production. He is more of a rapper than a singer.
The production that shot him into the limelight was Tulenkey’s Proud Fuck Boys even though prior to that he had done a lot of productions for other artistes like MzBel, Dobble and Afro Moses.
ORIGIN STORY: Fimfim lived with his grandma in his hometown, Kyebi Amanfrom, until he was 9 years when he moved to Dansoman. He went to Dansoman Baptist Academy and had his Secondary School Education in Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua where he studied Business. After Senior High School, he attended Trans Africa University College in Adabraka to study Marketing and then later did online courses in Sound Engineering.
As a child, his uncle influenced him greatly to go into music. He taught him how to rap by listening to his uncle rap alongside Reggie Rockstone music they used to play at home. His uncle also gave him some pointers needed if he wanted to be a great rapper.
His cousin started with production with the software, FL Studio (Fruity Loops) and because he was a rapper, anytime his cousin was doing anything that had to do with production, he would be beside him rapping in the room they were sharing. After some time he was looking for certain elements in the production that he wasn’t getting. He would describe what he wanted to his cousin but he couldn’t get exactly what he wanted. This pushed him to learn more about the Production process so that he would be able to work on his own music.
INFLUENCES: He’s influenced by Sounds, Movies and other Productions.
MUSICAL STYLE: He’s known for his blend of Highlife and Funky beats to produce what he calls “High Funk” but he doesn’t restrict himself to just that genre.
OTHER BUSINESSES AND VENTURES: Apart from producing, he lectures Sound Engineering at Doxa Open University in Dansoman.
