He helped JDerobie record the song and release it. Since then, the artiste has dropped Odo and the remix to Poverty

ORIGIN STORY: JDerobie first coined his name in High School because he was quite the entertainer and knew he will blow someday. JDerobie grew up with two younger siblings and a mum who moved around a lot so he remembers being born in Yendi but spending most of his formative years in Accra.

He schooled in Nungua, He moved from Henry to Vivipon to Kwenungua for his primary school education and went to Akotoshie JHS before going to Dagbon state senior high school where he wrote his WASSCE. He then went to IPMC to study Systems Engineering but had to drop out.

JDerobie’s interest in music first sparked in Class 5 from just listening to a lady in his house sing gospel music. His interest grew some more from watching music talent shows such as American Idols, Mentor etc with his mum, Emelia Yentumi and by 2009, he was singing and rapping as well.

He was extremely talented and could opt to become an artist, a dancer or even a rapper but singing captured his heart and after writing a song for a friend and recording with him, JDerobie realized that music was what he wanted to pursue as a career.

2014 After High School, JDerobie realized he had to take his talent seriously. All it took was for him to write a song with his friend and that was when it hit him that he did have great vocals and would be a great atiste.

He dropped three songs, Odo Yewu, Awurade and his first dancehall music, Vim.

In June 2018, JDerobie wrote poverty but didn’t record it. It took almost a month to write it and the popular chorus came to him at the beach behind his home in Nungua.

In December 2018, JDerobie’s video blew up on Twitter and caught the attention of Mr Eazi during the Empawa100 challenge.

Also in December 2018, he recorded and dropped his hit single, Poverty with Mr Eazi.

He later recorded the remix to Poverty with Jamaican superstar, Popcaan
