More than fifty wooden structures have been gutted by fire at “Onion Market” in Old Fadama in Accra on the dawn of Monday, March 30.
The fire which was said to have started at about 2:15 a.m also destroyed empty onion sacks, a number of bags of rice, bags of salt and other properties running into hundreds of Ghana cedis.
No casualty was recorded and the cause of fire is unknown.
Four fire tenders from South Industrial Area and other fire stations were deployed to help calm the raging fire.
The Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge confirmed this to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.
