US Embassy Suspends Evacuation Of US Citizens From Ghana

The United States Embassy in Ghana has suspended the evacuation of its citizens from the country.

The US and the United Kingdom have both been evacuating its citizens back to their respective countries.

In a statement, the US Embassy Ghana told Americans to not go to the airport or call the embassy as all commercial flights in and out of Ghana have been cancelled.

“U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents still seeking emergency repatriation should NOT go to the airport or the U.S. Embassy,” the statement said.

While we do not anticipate additional chartered repatriation flights from Ghana to the United States, we continue to collect details of U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents who are interested in such flights,” it added.

“Each U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident traveller who wishes to be considered for any future flights must complete the online request form available via this link:,” it advised.
