The United Kingdom has evacuated its citizens living in Ghana amid the spread of coronavirus.
The UK citizens in Ghana were flown out of Ghana to their home country via emergency charter flights last night.
The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker was grateful to President Akufo-Addo for enabling British nationals return to the UK.
“COVID-19 has shown the importance of collaboration between. The UK and Ghana stand together as we confront the challenges ahead,” Iain Walker stated in a Twitter post.
The US Embassy in Ghana has also evacuated 305 Americans in Ghana in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The American citizens in Ghana were sent back to the US on March 25, 2020, with support from the Government of Ghana.
Ghana has so far recorded 152 total cases as of Sunday, March 29, 2020.
