Though the government has only officially shut down our borders – land, sea, air, the effect of that can be seen in town.
Government’s earlier social distancing and a ban on social gathering policy have also contributed to the near post-apocalyptic feel we have in town.
Yesterday, some parts of Accra, that were normally busy were eerily quiet.
Today, the photographer Yaw Pare is giving us a bird’s-eye view of how the busy streets of Tema are deserted.
The high traffic areas are empty, and the sea border ban is also having an impact on the Tema Port.
Ships are not berthing at the port and the containers are not being moved by trucks.
It is as if time has stopped.
