South Africa has announced that 205 people are now infected with respiratory coronavirus disease.

It’s a jump of 55 cases from Thursday.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize had said that he expected the number to rise and estimated that at least 60% of the country’s 56 million inhabitants could be infected.

The minister also said that at least 20% would be severely infected.

Earlier this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a state of disaster because of the virus, restricting travel, closing schools, banning mass gatherings and ordering bars to close or limit numbers to 50.
