With the outbreak of the Coronavirus, lots of people are self-isolating and basically making sure they do not step out and risk their chances of catching or spreading the virus.

While you are home, you will need to keep busy, and movies are the best options but here are some movies about pandemics that are really exciting and full of drama and just enough to teach you something as well as keep you entertained!

Contagion

You may have watched this already because we told y’all about it. Remember? The movie that seems to have predicted the coronavirus outbreak? The movie is basically about a pandemic that originated in China and caused a widespread breakdown much like what we are seeing today.

I Am Legend

Robert Neville, a scientist, is the last human survivor of a plague in the whole of New York. He attempts to find a way to reverse the effects of the man-made virus by using his own immune blood.

It Comes At Night

This is basically as bleak as this genre can get. Set at the very end of an apocalyptic viral scenario, the few survivors are wracked with distrust over the possibility of infection. Death looms not as a danger but a dark inevitability over the story, which doesn’t stop the way it plays out from being any less grim.

12 Monkeys

The 1995 movie is basically about Bruce Willis going back into time from his post-apocalyptic present in order to find the source of the outbreak so that the survivors in his own time can cure it.

93 Days

This movie was based on the 2014 Ebola outbreak which killed thousands in Nigeria. It tells the true story of the doctors who worked to contain Ebola when it spread to Nigeria.

Resident Evil

The movie and series follow the story of former security specialist and operative battling the Umbrella Corporation whose bioweapons have triggered a zombie apocalypse.

The Last Ship

After a global viral pandemic wipes out over 80% of the world’s population, the crew (consisting of 218 people) of a lone unaffected ship have to find a way to stop the virus, and save humanity.

These are all movies so you know you have absolutely no need to panic. Do the needful and wash your hands regularly, practice social distancing and keep your hand sanitizer handy!
