Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor, according to Joy Sports has not been given a contract engaging his services to lead the Black Stars by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The report further stated that Akonnor has also not received any salary despite working for nearly two months and has followed up on the contract several times but to no avail.

The GFA announced the former Kotoko and Hearts coach as the successor of Kwasi Appiah in January this year, after dissolving the previous technical team.

The duration of his engagement was not made public. Joy Sports, however, reveals that it would be a two-year contract with a salary of about $35,000 a month.

Akonnor has started work in earnest, attending the 2022 World Cup qualifiers draw in Egypt before proceeding to Europe to monitor Ghanaian players for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Last week, he announced a 23-man squad for the double-header qualifier against Sudan slated for this month, and it is possible that he could lead the team against the Falcons of Jediane without signing a legal document, the report states.
