Nigeria has confirmed the second case of coronavirus in the country.
The confirmed case was among three randomly tested in Ogun State during a routine test by the Federal Ministry of Health of Nigeria (FMoH).
The health authority, in a statement, said that the new case is “not an importation [of COVID-19 into the country]” but came in contact with the first confirmed case, an Italian, who is in isolation and under a clinical follow-up.
The FMoH are currently monitoring 40 persons in isolation in Ogun State and 20 persons also in isolation in Lagos State, since the announcement of the first confirmed case.
A tweet by the Nigerian Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire said that the new patient has “no significant clinical symptoms and is stable.”
