Sogakope Youth Give Police 3-Day Ultimatum To Find Assemblymember’s Killers

Marcus Mawutor Adzahli, Assemblymember of Sogakope South who was murdered

Youth in Sogakope in the Volta Region are up in arms against the police and have given them three days to produce killers of Marcus Mawutor Adzahli, the Assemblymember for Sogakope South Electoral Area.

The Assemblymember was killed in cold blood on Sunday after being shot multiple times in what many suspect to be a contract killing.

The youth of Sogakope have accused the police of negligence.

According to them, the crime could have been avoided or the outcome mitigated if the police had been swift.

With the support of opinion leaders, they say the police should fish out the perpetrators or face their wrath.

Addressing journalists after a blockade on the Accra-Sogakope-Aflao highway at the lower Volta Bridge on Sunday, the youth said they need nothing but justice.

Spokesperson Maxwell Kwami Lukutor said the police are only interested in chasing “small” monies from drivers.

He added that the law enforcers are only concerned about their personal security at the expense of the citizenry.

He also demanded the immediate resignation of the DCE, whom the youth accused of showing no commitment to security issues in the area.
