News just coming in indicates that the University of Ghana has taken action against the two lecturers who were implicated in the BBC Sex for Grades story.
In a statement issued by Stella Amon, the Director of Public Affairs of the University of Ghana, the Prof Ransford Gyampo has been suspended for 6 months while Dr Paul Butakor received a 4-month suspension. The suspension took effect from January 1.
The two lecturers would also be required to “undergo appropriate training of the University of Ghana’s Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Policy as well as the Code of Conduct for Academic Staff of the University of Ghana,” the statement said.
They will also be assessed annually for a period of five years after they go through the training.
