Ghana’s self-acclaimed dancehall king and hitmaker Shatta Wale was paid GH¢ 400,000 [US$ 70,000] by the new owners of Legon Cities FC to promote their first home match against Asante Kotoko, GHANASoccernet reports.
It is unknown if the club intends to make the musician its brand ambassador for the season.
Shatta Wale – who controls the streets as they say in the music world – has got a massive following on social media and since the announcement, he has enticed many non-football fans.
His Shatta Movement fans – the most vociferous and vibrant in the country – are expected to answer the call of their ‘President’.
He is expected to perform many of his hit songs before and during half time to entertain the crowd.
Legon Cities FC management is convinced the I Know My Level hit-maker can draw his followers to the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
His association with the club has got many talking on Twitter and Facebook.
The re-christened club has done enough the past few days and won over neutrals with their branding and promotional drive.
