Ghana Air Force Aircraft Crashes During A Routine Engine Run

An aircraft of the Ghana Air Force, CASA C295 with registration number GHF552 overrun the apron at the Air Force Base in Accra.

According to a statement signed by Colonel E Aggrey-Quashie, the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, the incident occurred at about 1110 hours during a routine engine run.

“There was no casualty to any crew member and anybody on the ground. There were also no passengers on board,” the statement clarified.

The statement further added that a preliminary investigation team has been constituted to come up with an initial report within 48 hours.

“The manufacturers of the aircraft, Airbus have been notified of the incident. They re expected to fly in a team to join their Ghanaian counterparts for a thorough assessment of the aircraft damage,” the statement read.

The CASA C295 Aircraft

The CASA C295 was manufactured in November 2015 and delivered in February 2016. It was due for a mandatory check-in November 2019. It has, however, being in operation since October 2019.
