Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane could leave the club again at the end of the season after falling out with the club’s hierarchy.
The Frenchman arrived in Madrid for his second spell as manager in early 2019, after initially resigning at the end of the 2017/18 season following three consecutive Champions League triumphs.
However, the former Galactico is threatening to leave the Santiago Bernabeu once again after clashing with club president Florentino Perez, according to Mundo Deportivo. There are a few factors that the two do not see eye-to-eye on, which ultimately led to Zidane departing in 2018.
The Frenchman is set to see out the rest of the season, despite his uneasy relationship with the club’s hierarchy, but is considering terminating his contract come the summer.
Perez’s refusal to pursue the signing of Paul Pogba, who Zidane views as integral in his long-term plan with Los Blancos, has been a key feature in the ongoing spat between the two. Perez’s approach of former Madrid boss Jose Mourinho on many occasions has also caused the pair to clash.
Should Zidane leave Madrid in the summer, a likely destination would be Juventus, who would be accepting of the Frenchman dearly. Zidane left Turin for Madrid as a player but is still regarded as a club legend.
This news comes at a time where Real Madrid are performing at their best. They recently won the Supercopa de Espana after beating Atletico Madrid in the final, and have also overtaken rivals Barcelona at the top of the table to cap a successful first half of the season for the Frenchman.
An upcoming Champions League tie with Manchester City will be the next hurdle for Zidane, as the Frenchman looks to secure his fourth triumph in the competition before what could be a potential second departure, and another La Liga title could be on the cards too.
