The National Communications officer of the National Democratic Congress Sammy Gyamfi has been released on bail a few hours after he was arrested from the television station premises in Accra Monday.
The reason behind his arrest at UTV premises at Abeka was initially unclear, but it emerged later that it was based on a case of forgery and publication of false information brought against him in December last year.
Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe told TV3 his client was formally charged and granted police bail with two sureties.
The Police CID on December 23, 2019, was invited to assist in investigations into the case but the meeting was rescheduled.
He later initiated an action at the Accra High Court to have a warrant issued against him overturned.
