2019 was unquestionably the year of afrobeat, the West African musical genre that spread across the globe like wildfire.
However, it was Burna Boy who became the face of this newly-emphasized movement, fusing contemporary hip-hop and more alongside traditional afrobeat in his breakout project African Giant, which earned him a nomination for Best World Music at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Now the Nigerian singer-songwriter is back with a hazy music video for “Secret” featuring Jeremih and Jamaican dancehall artist Serani.
A highlight from African Giant, “Secret” is a fun-filled track that features a load of feel-good energy. In the music video for the track, all three artists can be seen in various dimly-lit settings as they perform their verses.
