Chelsea and Manchester United both answered their critics in emphatic style on Saturday with resounding Premier League victories.
The Blues ended a run of two consecutive league defeats at home by smashing Burnley 3-0, while Manchester United won for the first time in three matches, thumping Norwich 4-0 at Old Trafford.
Frank Lampard and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have both found it tough against the lesser teams in front of their own fans, despite getting impressive results against the rest of the so-called big six.
But there were no such jitters today. Jorginho, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi earned a comfortable victory for Chelsea, while Marcus Rashford’s double sent United on their way against Norwich, before Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood completed the rout.
Elsewhere, Southampton continued their remarkable run by coming from behind to beat Leicester 2-1 at the King Power, claiming vengeance for their 9-0 defeat to the Foxes earlier this season.
Dennis Praet opened the scoring before Stuart Armstrong and Danny Ings turned things around, with VAR ruling out an equaliser for Jonny Evans at the death.
A Richarlison stunner helped Carlo Ancelotti continue his bright start at Everton as the Toffees beat Brighton 1-0, and Newcastle earned a 1-1 draw at Wolves
Earlier in the day, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored and got sent off for Arsenal in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
