Final-year candidates at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (Owlag) in South Africa have passed their exams. The school’s executive director tweeted the news saying all the 59 candidates got “100% passes”:

A statement from the school said the students’ experience at the academy was enriching:

“They not only leave academically successful, but they also leave resilient, courageous and tenacious,” TimesLive quoted the statement as saying.

A total of 11,678 candidates, representing 227 schools, wrote the 2019 National Senior Certificate examination, with 89% achieving a bachelor’s degree pass, the news site reports.

Owlag is a project launched by global TV star Oprah Winfrey. She started it after a discussion with the late South African President Nelson Mandela in 2000.

The school was opened in 2007 and its inaugural class of 72 girls graduated in 2011.
