You might not yet be as familiar with the name of Joseph Amoah. However, 2020 is probably going to be the year in which he becomes a household name in Ghana. This is because he will be representing the country in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In fact, he was the very first Ghanian to qualify for next year’s competition.
His main sport when he was younger was football, and he only ran for fun. However, his teachers at high school saw his potential and encouraged him to take running more seriously. By doing so, he followed in the footsteps of his uncle, who went to the same school.
Another successful moment for Amoah this year came when he was part of Ghana’s 4×100 metre relay team that took home gold medals from the 2019 African Games that were held in Rabat.
