American mixed martial artist and former collegiate wrestler, Bubba Jenkins, says songs from Shatta Wale provide inspiration for him.
Bubba stated that anytime he is getting ready for a fight, he listens to Shatta Wale’s songs in order to psyche himself up for the bout.
“He has a calm rhythm to some of his music and most of the time, when I’m walking out of my fights or preparing for a fight, I like reggae.
I like something that speaks about love and peace. Even if it’s speaking about war and intimidation, the substance and rhythm with which he sings, speaks to me during training times or when I’m trying to get into a certain mind frame,” Bubba Jenkins disclosed during an interview on ETV Ghana.
Bubba also added that he plans on returning to Ghana to organize Mixed Martial Arts fights.
According to Muse.com, Bubba Jenkins was in Ghana for a week as part of the “Year of Return”. The MMA fighter said he traced his roots back to Ghana and visited to reconnect with his “Lost” Heritage.
His record as an MMA fighter is 14 wins. 6 of his wins came by Knockout, 3 came by submission and 5 came by way of unanimous decision.
