Joker has just added Golden Globe nominee to its growing list of accomplishments. The DC Comics adaptation from Warner Bros. and director Todd Phillips has been nominated for four Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture, in the drama category. This now adds awards season acclaim to the impressive box office haul and major film festival accolades.

Golden Globes 2020 Nominations show that In the Best Picture category, Joker will be competing against Sam Mendes’ WWI epic 1917, Noah Baumbach’s emotional Marriage Story, Martin Scorsese’s gangster epic The Irishman, and Fernando Meirelles’ real-life drama The Two Popes.

Amazingly, Netflix is behind three of those titles, all except Joker and 1917, which is perhaps a preview of the streaming service dominance to come throughout awards season. The official Twitter account for Joker confirmed the nominations with a brief clip of Joaquin Phoenix’s performance, with the following caption.

#Joker has been nominated for 4 #GoldenGlobes, including Best Picture, Drama, Best Director, Todd Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor, Drama, and Best Original Score. Congrats to everyone involved! #GoldenGlobes”
