Influenza A or H3N2 is a contagious airborne viral infection that lasts 7-14 days
Fever and chills, headache, cough and runny nose, body aches, sore throat, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and possibly diarrhoea.
People at risk are the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses like TB, Hepatitis, HIV, asthma, diabetes and children of school-going age.
What do you do if you have these symptoms:
As with all Influenzas treatment is symptomatic so don’t get mad at your doctor if he does not give you an antibiotic since it will not affect the virus. You will only get an antibiotic if your doctor notices a complication or a secondary infection.
Remember that since there are different strains of the same virus you can get infected again more than once in a year.
If your immune system is very strong then you will probably survive the illness but it might knock you down and render you incapacitated and unable to work for some days.
If symptoms get severe visit your doctor for treatment. Do not start treating yourself with funny mixtures and herbs as it will not help.
