A lot happened yesterday. All of us were on cloud 9 when the GRAMMYs released the nominations for the 2020 GRAMMYs award show.
When the nominees dropped, we were excited because Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift Album got several nominations including the categories for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media categories.
The album got other nominations, however, it is these two that will give Shatta Wale a right to claim any form of a GRAMMY mention.
However, as we have come to know. Shatta Wale does not have a GRAMMY nomination. Not yet.
That’s because according to the GRAMMY rules, he would stand a chance of being a nominee if he had contributed to about 51% of Beyonce’s album entire playing time.
Y’all know that Shatta Wale was on only one song and even that one Beyonce was on that too so it will be hard for Shatta Wale to get that 51% mark.
But all hope is not lost, once Shatta Wale is on a GRAMMY-nominated album he will surely get something to show for it.
The Recording Academy, the organization behind the GRAMMYs, offers customized participation certificates which recognizes anyone who was creatively or professionally involved in a GRAMMY-winning or GRAMMY-nominated recording.
“Musicians, composers, publishers, studios, and labels may apply for a participation certificate with proof of participation in a GRAMMY-winning or GRAMMY-nominated record,” the Academy says on its website.
The certificate Shatta Wale will receive is an 8.5″ x 11″ size certificate with customized information.
The certificates will be printed on heavy, ivory stock, embossed with the official Recording Academy shield in gold foil.
The certificates will be shipped to Ghana or a destination of Shatta Wale’s choice unframed with a protective folder.
Application for the issuing of participation certificates was closed July 12, 2019, and will reopen February 11th, 2020.
Come February 2020, Shatta Wale can put in a formal application for his GRAMMY Certificate of Participation.
This is big, either way if you ask us.
