These African Footballers Have Been Shortlisted For The 2019 Ballon d’Or Award

Thirty footballers have been shortlisted for the 2019 Ballon d’Or award by the organisers, France Football.

The 30-man shortlist includes big football stars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil Van Dijk.

The shortlist also includes four African players.

The African players who were shortlisted are:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal/Gabon), Sadio Mané (Liverpool/Senegal), Riyad Mahrez (Man City/Algeria) and Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli/Senegal).

The Ballon d’Or:

The Ballon d’Or is an annual football award presented by France Football. It has been awarded since 1956, although between 2010 and 2015, an agreement was made with FIFA and the award was temporarily merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year, which became known as the FIFA Ballon d’Or.
