Italy’s illegal marijuana industry is more sophisticated than some people would assume.
According to CNN, officials on the Italian island of Sardinia discovered a 5,400-square-foot marijuana growing operation that was hidden behind the titles of a shower.
During the raid, police seized close to 500 cannabis plants as well as a gun and ammunition.
San Francisco’s KRON 4 reports that the heat lamps and other electronics needed to sustain the facility were operating on stolen energy. The unnamed homeowner was arrested on charges of illegal production and possession of drugs and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
Although not much is known about the incident, the grower’s innovative way of concealing their operation stole several headlines.
