Give us some Ghanaian rising role models and we’ll go all day talking about them.
We must confess that for most of us, we fell in love with Blitz Bazawule, also known as Blitz Ambassador when we watched his debut movie “The Burial of Kojo.”
The spiritual African film won many admirations all over the world and among them is Ava Duvernay.
She loved the movie so much that her company Array picked up the Burial Of Kojo and showed it on Netflix.
Now… if you know Ava, director of the award-winning “When They See Us” docuseries, then you’d know that she’s also behind Queen Sugar – the beautiful movie starring our very own Kofi Siriboe, on the Oprah Winfrey Network – OWN.
Well, Ava has a new show in development for OWN which will star the amazing Cicely Tyson called Cherish The Day.
Each season on Cherish The Day, it would chronicle the romance of one couple, with each episode spanning a single day, Variety reports.
The season-long narrative will unfold to reveal significant moments in a relationship that compel people to hold true to the ones they love, from the extraordinary to the everyday, Variety added.
What makes Cherish The Day extra special for us that Blitz is also directing it.
Blitz took to Twitter to share that he had “an amazing experience making my TV directing debut on upcoming series #CherishTheDay.”
He went ahead to thank Ava for the opportunity and also extended his appreciation to Oprah and OWN, who has already placed an order for two seasons of the series which is set to premiere in late 2020.
An AMAZING experience making my TV directing debut on upcoming series #CherishTheDay. Thank you @Ava for the love and trust. Beyond grateful. Thank you Oprah and OWN for creating a home for a show so beautiful. Thanks to the Producers, Writers, Cast and Crew. Can’t wait!!! 🙏🏿🎥 pic.twitter.com/7cyTfI7OK4
