This week, Ghanaian A-list chef Kwame Amfor, popularly known as Biishville, confirmed his international status with a feature on the BBC.
Kwame, who is the founder of the catering service company Biishville, has cooked for the who is who in the Ghanaian society and he’s also privately catered for Hollywood star Idris Elba and his family when they visited Ghana last December.
He joined other chefs on The BBC show called The Food Chain which sought to understand what it meant to be a private chef for a megastar.
During the thirty minutes show, Kwame, Charlotte Leventis, the London-based founder and executive chef of Extravaganza Food; and Kathleen Schaffer, the founder and creative director of Schaffer LA discussed their experiences of being a private chef.
Between these three chefs, they’ve cooked for A-listers including Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Idris Elba, Eddie Murphy, David Beckham and Kate Beckinsale.
They recounted their experiences of how a Premiership footballer who wanted to helicopter a chef to his home to make him and his girlfriend oven chips, the politician who had a romantic meal with not one, but three beautiful young women, and the Hollywood star who would only eat what she could squeeze into half of a small plastic cup.
They also talked about how one can become a private chef, and how much money you can make and what happens when the person you are cooking for is not someone you want to pander to – a politician whose policies you can’t abide, or a celebrity whose private behaviour makes you uncomfortable.
Biishville is currently in Italy with the family of the First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo as a private chef.
