Art in Ghana has seen a change with frequent art exhibitions and pop up art shows. This has given a lot of artists the platform to exhibit their works.
Art Water II, the second edition of this ingenious series, is a collaborative exhibition for some of Africa’s rising contemporary artists. The 2-day exhibition happening on the 19th and 20th October will showcase over 40 remarkable works of art at the Elle Lokko Warehouse, Osu.
Artists participating include @midichi @hansonakatti @trisha_edwyns @artsoulkojo @artofarm @auraylius @buckss @kpeandcaves @_kwamekyei
In an interview with Kuulpeeps.com, Artist Midichi said “the art world/industry is complicated, even almost non-existent here in this side of the world. The good news is that it’s changing. A few galleries have started popping up, there is a growing art community and the internet is helping a lot. Still, I noticed the art scene here isn’t as active as it’s supposed to be.
“So many talented artists but, very few shows to interact with the artists in person. The next thing to do was to figure it out. How do I contribute to the art scene? What could I do? The logical thing was to put a show together featuring the finest contemporary artists we have in Ghana. So this is the start of many to come. I interviewed the artists being featured in Art Water 2. Get to know them before the show.”
We definitely rise by lifting others up and Midichi is doing just that.
