Conor McGregor has officially announced his return to the octagon. Speaking at a news conference in Moscow, he said that he knew who his opponent would be but refused to reveal it, saying that the UFC would “flip it.”

He went on to say that people should “ask the UFC who the opponent is because I do not give a f— who the opponent is.” ESPN reports that the two top opponents lined up for McGregor are Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje, with Cerrone, touted as the front-runner.

The fight would take place on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena, with McGregor promising a “fully focused” version of himself. He went on to say that the fight will be the beginning of his season, with plans to fight three times next year. His chosen opponent after his return will be the winner of the Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal fight and the fight after that with the winner of the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson fight.

The Irishman stated that he wanted the rematch between himself and Nurmagomedov to happen in Russia, with the previous bout ending by fourth-round submission. “That is the bout we want. We want this bout in Moscow. The people of Russia deserve this bout to take place. The people of the world deserve this bout to take place.”

Since his time away from the UFC, McGregor has been embroiled in several legal issues, the latest of which is the second allegation of sexual assault that his publicist denied.
