Fast-rising Ghanaian artiste, Fantana, is embarking on a face-saving mission by donating sanitary pads to students after a wardrobe malfunction inadvertently caused her to embarrassingly expose her sanitary pad to patrons at Shatta Wale’s Reign and Obrafour’s concerts last weekend.

Rufftown/BlownGh in partnership with Rotaract Club Adentan will educate women specifically, on menstrual sanitization at Balogono Basic School to make them aware of the procedures to observe when they are in that state and they have to appear at public events.

Speaking to ghanaweb, Fantana said, “The campaign is to help girls who skip school during menstrual periods just to avoid embarrassment, especially when they stain themselves with blood. This happens because they have no knowledge about sanitary towels while some of them also can’t afford it”.

Fantana’s initiative came after Ghanaians condemned her for not dressing appropriately to perform at a public event which led to the revealing of her menstrual placemat. The theme for her project is “Pad a Girl”.

Responding to critics in a Press Release on Monday, October, 20, Fantana said “Regardless of my costume being transparent, my only option was to put on a sanitary pad and still go-ahead to perform. I am a woman and I am not afraid of menstruating.

“Yes, my menses appeared 30 minutes to my performance and I had to put on a sanitary pad and still go on stage. Menstruation is not a shame, and I urge all young women to take a cue from my actions and not to let it stop them from doing anything they want to do”, she added.
