BMW Introduces The 2 Series Gran Coupe

The new series will make available two options for the US market: the 228i xDrive and the M235i xDrive. Both equipped with the same turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox, the former model pushes out 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the latter M Sport model produces 301 horsepower and torque of 332 pound-feet. With that levels of power, the 228i xDrive can make 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds, with the more aggressive M235i xDrive model clocking in at 4.7 seconds.

Both models for the US come standard with all-wheel drive, though the M235i will obviously come with more upgrades, such as additional bracing, a lower ride height via a standard sport suspension system, the option to choose between Comfort and Sport for its dynamic damper control system, and optional 19-inch performance tires (the standard M model comes at 18-inches, while the non-M version comes with 17-inch wheels).

With production being slated to commence next month, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe models will be available sometime in early 2020, though no pricing details have been released yet.
