Yesterday, there was a big celebration in honour of a local dish we have fought many international wars over.
Actually, we recently beat our big brother, Nigeria in a contest to identify who makes the best Jollof…
Like us, a lot of Ghanaians attended Ghana’s leading Jollof and Grill event, the Jollof Festival.
Among the list of attendees were Lydia Forson, John Dumelo, Efya, Naa Ashorkor and a lot of other celebrities.
With John Dumelo present, a radio conversation between Naa Ashorkor and Lydia Forson took a political turn.
Though Lydia Forson said she would support John Dumelo, she was quick to add that “I would treat you as I would any other politician.”
No. John Dumelo is not getting the ‘you’re my colleague’ free pass from Lydia Forson who never shies away from expressing her opinions on matters of national interest.
According to Lydia, the reason why she would treat Dumelo just like any other politician is “because you [John Dumelo] are going there [Parliament House] for the people; not necessarily just for us but you are going there for the people.”
As a result, Lydia Forson said she is “going to ask the tough questions” and John Dumelo will have to “do more than saying hello to me once in a while for my vote.”
“You have to tell me exactly what you’re going to do,” she added.

If only all of us can confidently say this to any politician who comes knocking come the 2020 General Election.
