You don’t know who Serena Williams is?
Serena Williams is an American professional tennis player. She has won 23 major singles titles, the most won by any man or woman in the Open Era. The Women’s Tennis Association ranked her world No. 1 in singles on eight separate occasions between 2002 and 2017.
Today, she turns 38 and…we dug up some personal facts about her we know you didn’t know!
Her middle name is Jameka.
Her favourite animals are dogs and tigers.
She is a Jehovah Witness although she isn’t really actively practising the faith.
Her favourite colour is purple.
Her favourite city is Rome and it makes sense cos that’s where she met her husband, Alex Ohanian.
Her older sister is Venus Williams, also a star tennis player. She’s younger by a year and 3 months.
She started playing tennis at the age of 3 probably because her dad was a tennis coach!
Her favourite author is Maya Angelou.
She also speaks fluent French and when she has matches in France, she actually does her interviews on the court in French.
She was in Common’s “I Want You” music video.
She also danced alongside Beyonce in Beyonce’s ‘Sorry’ videos.
She was a voice actor for Ming in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The Serena Williams Fund has funded schools in not only Uganda but Kenya and Jamaica as well.
