For most of us, when we see the Kardashian-Jenner clan, we think money, fashion and makeup… well surgery too.
Most of the time we see them as perfect and we aspire to have that sort of money or comfort or even family. So it came as a shock when we got to know that Kim has been suffering from Psoriasis for this long.
We didn’t really see her face with makeup then but it’s clear why now.
She recently posted a make-up free selfie on her Instagram story showing the red patches on her skin which occur as a result of the condition.
The selfie was linked to an article on Kourtney Kardashian’s lifestyle site, Poosh, titled ‘Kim Kardashian West Shares Her Journey with Psoriasis’ and we found out a couple of things about the disease.
Her mum passed down the autoimmune disease to her and she found out she had it when she was 25;13 years ago. She got a common cold, and since psoriasis is an autoimmune condition, this triggered it. She said it was all over her stomach and legs.
Luckily for her 25year old self, her dermatologist was her neighbour so he gave her a cortisone shot and the disease went away only for it to be back in her early 30s.
Over the years, not all the spots show on her body when the Psoriasis flares up but the one that doesn’t go away is the spot on her leg but it doesn’t really bother her. Sometimes she covers it up but at other times, she doesn’t.
Apart from being diagnosed with Psoriasis she’s been also diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, a type of arthritis which develops in people who already have psoriasis.
Currently, Kim has become extremely comfortable with her psoriasis and no matter where it is on her body, she’s sometimes fine with showing it off and at other times since she doesn’t want it to be a distraction, she covers it up with body makeup.
Kim’s story drums the fact that we don’t really know what people are going through or dealing with in life so we should be kind to everyone.
