
The Government has released an amount of GHS 49 million to be used to settle all salary arrears owed teachers since 2017.
It can be recalled that the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has declared a strike though schools have reopened and Form 1 students are currently being enrolled at the various schools.
In a letter signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei-Asare for the Minister, the Controller and Accountant General was directed to release the funds to “enable the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service pay outstanding transfer gran and other allowances to qualified staff of the GES from 2017 to 2019.
