JDerobie’s new song was released last week Friday and of course, we all clamoured to listen to it.
We first met the artiste last year when he was chosen to be a part of Mr Eazi’s first EmpawaAfrica, an initiative by Mr Eazi to select a number of Ghanaian artistes, groom them and help them out with their music career.

JDerobie wowed us when his entry, a poorly shot video of him singing a dancehall song went viral on social media. No one expected what they heard (a perfect rendition of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’).
Mr Eazi helped him drop his entry as an official song, ‘Poverty’ and it did so well, he even had Popcaan as a feature for a remix. Months later, he gave us “Irie” another reggae song we fell in love with immediately.
When he mentioned a new song was coming, we knew it will be just as good but we didn’t expect the surprise that came with it. All his first two songs were dancehall/reggae inclined and we just concluded that JDerobie will be a Dancehall artiste that will be taking over soon.

From the new song, ‘Odo Bra’, we know he’s going to take a crown but not just in a specific genre. ‘Odo Bra’ took us by surprise cos it’s purely afrobeat. We heard JDerobie sing beautifully and some part of us kept wondering when he’d patois his way into the song.
‘Odo Bra’ is a beautiful love song. He sang over a sweet afrobeats sound (y’ all know the drums had us go crazy) about doing anything and everything for the love of his life. We could hear the Mr Eazi influence and that makes us even more excited and proud!

‘Odo Bra’ is a pleasant surprise that has sneaked its way into our hearts and we recommend that you all listen to this young genius’s sound.
He talked about dropping an album soon and from what we have heard, we expect nothing but mind-blowing music!
