Yoni Pearls

These Yoni Pearls are mini spherical teabag things made of muslin cloth and stuffed with herbs such as motherwort, angelica, borneol and rhubarb. You’re supposed to put them up your “vajayjay” in order to sort of cleanse it.

They insert them into your womb and leave them in for three days. After they are removed, most women experience a thick mucous or tissue-like discharge.

One issue is that, technically, you cannot place one of these detox pearls in your womb. The womb is separated from your vagina (and the outside world) by the cervix. There is a hole in the centre of your cervix that opens naturally to release the contents of your uterus during labour and (to a lesser degree) during menstruation. When closed, it keeps your uterus off-limits to things you place in your vagina—tampons, penises, sex toys, and magical herb balls.

Another problem most Doctors have is that the vagina is designed to clean itself with natural secretions and should not require a ‘detox’. It contains good bacteria, which are there to protect it. If these bacteria are disturbed it can lead to infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, and inflammation.

The textured mesh wrapping of the pearls may irritate and scratch your vaginal walls, increasing susceptibility to infection and as in the case with tampons, a foreign object left in your vagina for 24 hours can put you at risk for toxic shock syndrome.

Honestly with all this information and knowing what the doctors keep saying, we think you should go see your Gynaecologist before doing anything rush otherwise you would end up getting a bigger problem as compared to when you started with just an infection.
