The Year of Return is in full force!
Ghana, since the beginning of the year, has been receiving a lot of Black people from America and the Diaspora who are visiting the country to learn about what their ancestors went through during the dark days of slavery.
Popular Black-Americans such as Samuel L Jackson, Steve Harvey, Danny Glover have visited the country this year. More of them are set to visit the country this December.
This year was declared the Year of Return by President Nana Akufo-Addo. This year marks 400 years since the first recorded slave ship arrived in the United States of America.
In commemoration of this, Ghana’s ambassador to the United States of America, H.E. Dr Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah, poured libation at the Georgetown Waterfront Park.
The ambassador did this “to atone the spirits of our ancestors, who against all tribulations, contributed immensely to the development of the United States.”
