Gradually, we are getting into the campaign season where politicians are going to suddenly act like we are besties.
While some will be joining the community games, visiting us in our homes and helping us cook banku and braid hair, others will also be making generous donations to the churches or institutions we are affiliated to.
No… they are not doing that out of the kindness of their hearts… it’s all to secure their jobs for an additional four years and until then we will not see them again… let alone engage them on how best they can serve us.
One person who is gradually picking up his campaign is Ex-President John Dramani Mahama, who is fighting to win back the presidency on the ticket of the opposition, National Democratic Congress, NDC.
The former president has revamped his social media platforms and he’s resumed posting campaign messages on his platforms.
Yesterday, John Mahama sent a tweet saying “I am ready, very ready! I am ready to work hard to provide jobs for our youth and reduce the high cost of living in the country.”

Now, this is a harmless tweet from someone who is running for the office of President.
However, Twitter users didn’t let this slide. They had a lot to say and some resorted to dragging the former president by the edges for that tweet.
Mr. Mahama says he is ready to provide jobs to the youth of Ghana. It was he who implemented a deliberate policy to freeze public sector hiring for years and further rundown YEA! https://t.co/4Wpd2QyweV

So you weren’t ready the first time? Politics is doom for Ghana beats my imagination why people who think are wise still follow politicians.
I can say without fear that anybody in politics in Ghana today is only doing it for his or her selfish gain.
Greedy n wicked politicians.— I am Van Dyck (@VanKDyck1) August 2, 2019
Listen… there are more where that came from…just go view the replies under that tweet.
However, not everyone was hostile to the former President’s tweet.
Others were actually more considerate…

One thing is for sure, 2020 will be a fun political year for Ghanaians and we can’t wait for the fun twists social media will put on it.
