The KNUST College of Engineering has a variety of programmes you can choose from with each having specific criteria you need to fulfil in order to get in and with the results out you are probably wondering if your results match the criteria and what exactly it takes to get in.

The various engineering programmes are as follows;
A. BSc. AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING
B. BSc. CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
C. BSc. CIVIL ENGINEERING
D. BSc. MATERIALS ENGINEERING
E. BSc. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
F. BSc. AEROSPACE ENGINEERING
G. BSc. PETROLEUM ENGINEERING
H. BSc. GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING
I. BSc. GEOMATIC (GEODETIC) ENGINEERING
J. BSc. ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING
K. BSc. COMPUTER ENGINEERING
L. BSc. TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
M. BSc. BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
N. BSc. PETROCHEMICAL ENGINEERING
O. BSc. METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING
P. BSc. AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING
Q. BSc. INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
R. BSc. MARINE ENGINEERING

All undergraduate programmes are of a four-year duration leading to the award of a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.
The college also offers postgraduate programmes in all the above courses leading to the award to MSc, MPhil and PhD Degrees

1.0. For WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON

Credit Passes in THREE (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Credit passes in THREE (3) of the following Elective Subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

For J, K, L, and M, Programmes, the same requirements as above except that Applied Electricity OR Electronics are acceptable in place of Chemistry. Also in the case of M, Biology is acceptable in place of Chemistry.

Furthermore, for Programmes E, and F any of the following is acceptable in place of Chemistry; Metal Work, Auto Mechanics, Applied Electricity, Technical Drawing and Engineering Science.

Also, for Programmes P, Q and R any of the following are acceptable in place of Chemistry; Metalwork, Auto Mechanics, Applied Electricity, Technical Drawing, Building Construction and Woodwork.

For Programme A, any of the following are acceptable in place of Chemistry; Technical Drawing and Engineering Science, General Agriculture and Biology.

Applicants in this category who do not have Chemistry must obtain Grade B3 in Integrated Science.

1.1. AND THEN FOR A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level including English and Mathematics, plus,
EITHER
Passes at A’ Level in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Physics with an ‘O’ Level credit in Chemistry.
OR
Passes at A’ Level in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

2.3 HND APPLICANTS
i. HND Certificate applicants shall have at least Second Class Honour in any Mechanical Engineering orientated programme, such as:
a. Mechanical Engineering with any option
b. Agricultural Mechanization
c. Automobile Engineering
ii. The assessment shall be based on the applicants’ transcripts.
iii. Applicants shall have credits in English and Mathematics using either WASSCE/SSSCE or O’Level.

2.4 MATURE APPLICANTS
1. Mature applicants must be at least twenty-five (25) years at the time of submitting the application.
2. Mature applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience at the time of submitting the application.
3. Mature applicants must have acquired WASSCE/SSSCE, A’ Level Certificate or an HND from a recognized institution.
a. WASSCE/SSSCE mature applicants shall meet the requirements above.
b. A’ Level Certificate mature applicants shall meet the requirements above.
c. HND mature applicants shall meet the requirements above.

2.5 INTERNATIONAL AND OTHER APPLICANTS
a. International Baccalaureate applicants may apply with contents of programmes equivalent to the Ghanaian WASSCE/SSSCE or the Ghanaian A’ Level programmes.
b. Credits of International Baccalaureate applicants shall meet requirements 2.1 and 2.2 with equivalent certificates.

There is a wide range of career opportunities available to you after the end of the programme, you could venture into General Engineering, Agriculture, Manufacturing Industries or even go into Consultancy, Teaching And Research Or even Banking And Investment, Private Enterprise And Rural Development Projects. The choice is yours.
