
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting of two police officers at Gomoa Buduburam, near Kasoa in the Central Region on Wednesday afternoon.
The three suspects, all men, are being held at the Kasoa Police station.
Their names are yet to be known.
One police officer was confirmed dead and another injured in the shooting incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon between the police and the assailants.
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Irene Oppong who confirmed the incident said the incident happened on the Buduburam stretch of the Accra-Winneba road.
She said it happened during the usual checks by the Kasoa Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and that the police signalled an unregistered vehicle to stop but the driver refused to do so.

She said the police gave the vehicle a chase but the occupants of the unregistered vehicle at a point began shooting at the police vehicle.
One of the police officers was hit and has been confirmed dead while another is in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the officer who was confirmed dead has been identified as Sergeant Michael Dzamesi.
Sgt Dzamesi, after he was hit in the head, reportedly run into a nearby provision shop, ostensibly to take cover, but he collapsed immediately after he entered the facility.
