Earlier on today, a pickup vehicle loaded with boxes of bullets hit a hawker while it was trying to speed away from the police.

The vehicle had the registration number GS 6120-09.
The driver and the occupants of the car are alleged to be armed robbers.
According to an eye witness report, the driver of the pick-up vehicle, in an attempt to flout traffic rules, veered off his lane and knocked down the hawker, who sells newspapers.
Parts of the car have been damaged and the driver and its occupants are currently in police custody.
The hawker was reported to have died on the spot.
