A Ghanaian has been arrested at the Kotoka International Airport for trying to smuggle over 2,400kg gold bars out of Ghana to Europe.
According to Report Ghana, some sets of nicely packaged parcels were reported to have been intercepted when the man was about to check-in.
It became suspicious so the officials decided to verify what he was carrying. When one of the parcels was opened, it was noticed that it was filled with numerous gold bars wrapped like chocolate.
This adds up to various mineral smuggling cases to hit the country.
The situation is now at an alarming stage since the state is trying to figure out ways to curb such menace.
