Ghana Health Service Says There’s An Outbreak Of Polio In The Northen Region

This is a health warning article coming from a statement issued by the Ghana Health Service yesterday.

According to the service, there has been an outbreak of polio in the Chreponi District in the Northern  Region.

“The Ministry of Health/Ghana Health Service has received a report of confirmed poliomyelitis from the National Polio Laboratory in the sample from a two-year eight-month-old girl with acute flaccid paralysis fromAmdonyama in Chreponi District in the Northern Region,” the GHS statement which was signed by Dr Anthony Nsaih Asare, its Director-General said.

According to the GHS, the case is being managed at the Chreponi District Hospital and the National team has been deployed to assist the region and district teams to carry out a detailed investigation.

They also outlined a number of measures the public can adopt to protect themselves from what they called a “highly infectious disease.”
