Yesterday we heard some bad news that shook the core of music fanatics especially those in the French-speaking areas of Africa.
DJ Arafat, a well-known Ivoirien musician with millions of fans was reported to have died in a nasty motor accident.
He was featured in the popular J. Martins song we all jam to titled “Touching Body” Yeah he’s the one who came in with the French words in the song.
His real name is Houon Ange Didier
He has 11 albums to show during his entire music career
He was one of the first artistes in his country to get 1 million YouTube views in less than a day on his song ‘Moto Moto’. The video currently has over 4million views.
He signed to the Universal Music Group.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast.
His music was of the Coupé-Décalé genre which is a popular dance music genre that originated and is very popular in Cote D’Ivoire.
He was also named the best artist of the year at the Coupé-Decalé Awards in 2016 and 2017.
His interest in music takes root from his parent’s well-known music background. His father, Pierre Houon, was a known sound engineer and his mother, Tina Glamour, was a popular singer.
