Ghanaian songstress, Essilfie is one of many young Ghanaians who joined the Kuulpeeps anti-cyberbullying campaign.
Essilfie is a growing talent in the Ghanaian music scene who continuously engages her growing fans on social media platforms, especially the microblogging site, Twitter.
Her decision to engage and grow her fanbase on social media, definitely came with pros and cons.
Her talent has been admired by many and has been belittled by some.
One more than one occasion, she’s been forced to defend herself from continues attacks on her talent.
While speaking to Kuulpeeps.com in a cyberbullying promotional video, Essilfie said: “I remember a time I used to argue and I used to say offensive things to people when I thought I was disrespected.”
Something that is commonplace on social media… when someone moves to you – you also clap back to save your skin…
However, it is this culture that is making the internet and social media such a toxic place to be.
“That wasn’t the right way though cos I really regret doing that. I am owning up to it and I am saying that I was also put in a position where people felt I was a bully,” Essilfie added in the promotional video.
“I am trying to say that we should take a stand against cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is bad, it makes people feel worthless of their talent or skill or whatever they bring to the table,” she added.
“I am urging you guys to join the fight and own up to your actions if you have bullied someone before,” she advised, adding that “sometimes we’re joking online, however, some people take it personal and they feel offended. We need just learn how to apologise and go ahead in life.”
