The University Of Ghana Wants $500 Million To Modernize Its Laboratory Facilities

The University of Ghana, Legon is planning to undertake a major overhaul of its laboratory facilities.

The premier university in Ghana is a pinnacle in the study of science-related programmes in the field of medicine, physics, chemistry, engineering, agriculture and others.

However, as the years go by, its laboratory facilities have stayed back in history and not advanced in keeping with the constantly changing environment in the science-related field.

To solve this, the university is planning to undertake a major project to give its laboratory the necessary facelift it requires, complete with cutting edge modern technology.

Professor and Founding Director, West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement and Director of the Biotechnology Centre, University of Ghana, Eric Danquah, disclosed back in July that an elaborate strategy to provide a facelift for the facilities has been presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.

It included a strategy to mobilize $500 million to modernize the laboratories.

According to Prof. Eric Danquah, the University of Ghana will “move its research to the next level if all stakeholders get on board this initiative.”

Advanced learning facilities are always good for teaching and learning.
