Formula 1 might not be a popular sport in Africa and for that matter Ghana, but there are certain people from this part of the world that love the sport!
On Sunday, August 4, 2019, the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix, a Formula One motor race was held at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, Hungary.
The race was won by British racing driver Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton who races for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport is a five-time Formula One World Champion. He is often considered as the best driver of his generation and widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport.
There were some Ghanaians who were watching the race on Sunday. Most of them were fans of Lewis Hamilton and they were excited when Hamilton took the lead and eventually won the race.
Formula 1 reposted a video posted by Kwabena Poku on Twitter.
“This is why we go racing… Hamilton fans in Ghana couldn’t control their excitement when Lewis Hamilton took the lead,” the Twitter account of Formula 1 wrote.
