Breakups are just depressing. Sigh. You don’t know what to do to yourself and you’re just all over.

You just want the earth to open up and swallow you and you can’t help but feel like you’re going to die alone cuz you don’t have any energy to get into a new one and start all over again.

Anyways, here are some of the physiological and physical effects of a breakup which can take a toll on your body.

Depending on your eating habits your weight will keep fluctuating. Some of you lose appetite for food and so become slimmer whiles the rest of you keep eating anything in sight. Binge eating releases dopamine, which can make you feel better. When you stop binge eating, the level of dopamine drops, causing you to want to get more by eating more.

Yup! You read right! Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy is the medical name for the stress of a heartbreaking situation.

Acute emotional stress, positive or negative, can cause the left ventricle of the heart to be ‘stunned’ or paralysed, causing heart attack-like symptoms including strong chest, arm or shoulder pains, shortness of breath, dizziness, loss of consciousness, nausea and vomiting.

Yup! Everything you feel is very valid. Just make sure you don’t wallow too much in your sadness.
